BSU and the Winter Olympics
Chou Tao: Awarding Gold Medals for BSU Fellows in the Games

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics kicked off. BSU has sent a team of nearly 1,000 staff to serve the Games, including athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, performers, scientific researchers, interns, and operators for the venues, events, and media. Young and passionate BSU fellows practice the great mission of serving the country, which shows that if the young are prosperous and strong, the country will be prosperous and strong. BSU fellows are witnessing Beijing becoming the first Dual Olympic City together with the world!

Chou Tao is a former athlete of the China National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team and a teacher of the School of Art of BSU. She joined the China Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team in 2001 and participated in the Olympic Games for the first time in 2008 with a silver in rhythmic gymnastics group competition. Chou became a teacher in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Teaching and Research Department of BSU. In 2017, she served as a senior referee for the 13th National Games in China. This year, she participated in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics as the etiquette training manager. She is currently a staff member of the Award Plaza of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, mainly responsible for the training and management of the etiquette volunteers in the award ceremony as well as some preliminary preparations for the Games. Chou is also a contributor to and a witness of Beijing becoming the first Dual Olympic City.

On the first competition day of the Winter Games, BSU Champion Class students Wu Dajing, Ren Ziwei, Fan Kexin, Qu Chunyu, and Zhang Yuting won the first gold for Team China! On February 6, the Award Ceremony for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Short Track Speed Skating Mixed Team Relay was held in the Award Plaza. It was the first time for the plaza to hold such a ceremony in the Games and the Chinese team led by Wu Dajing was given such an honor. The team stepped onto the championship podium, the national flag was raised and the national anthem played. Chou presented the medals to her BSU fellows at the scene. On February 8th, she again presented the 1,000m medals for Ren Ziwei and Li Wenlong. This is the moment when BSU fellows carry forward the mission in the award ceremony.
