State Physical Culture and Sports Commission awarded our school the National Sports Honors Medal, proposing that: we should build Beijing Institute of Physical Education into a world advanced institution of higher learning in sports with Chinese characteristics, in order to cultivate more high-quality sports talents who are both socialist-minded and professionally competent to make greater contributions to China’s sports cause. |

The school proposed that “we should adhere to the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory on developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, uphold the Party’s basic line, implement the Party’s educational policy, gear education to modernization, the world and the future and insist the socialist direction of school running. We should carefully implement the Outline of China’s Education Reform and Development, the strategy for invigorating China through science and education, the strategy for invigorating sports through science and technology as well as the Fitness for All Initiative and Olympic Glory-winning Program made by State Physical Culture and Sports Commission and actively adapt ourselves to the needs of socialist market economy and social development to cultivate cross-century talents for China’s education and sports causes. Reform is the fundamental way out for the development of BSU.” |

And BSU should continue to promote innovation in systems and mechanisms, comprehensively improve the quality and efficiency in school running, achieve the sustainable and rapid development of BSU and build BSU into a world first-class sports university”. |
