General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply to the 2016 Champion Class sparking a heated discussion among students

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, President of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote back to students of BSU’s 2016 Champion Class, sending his encouragement and expectations to them. General Secretary Xi Jinping said in his reply that “as China enters a new era, we should strive to fulfill our mission by promoting sports. I hope you maintain your efforts, continue to build China into a country strong on sports and bring more positive energy to Chinese society”.

The reply soon prevails in WeChat Moments of Champion Class students and greatly encourages them. They say that they would, with the spirit of “Always Striving to Fulfill Our Mission”, devote themselves to the construction and development of China’s sports cause wholeheartedly and contribute their strength to building China a country strong on sports.

We are so moved and inspired by General Secretary Xi Jinping’s encouragement and solicitude. China needs more responsibilities and struggles in the new era. Also, as a college teacher, I hope we can guide our adolescents with sportsmanship for they are in the critical period of fostering correct outlook on life and values. As a physical culture worker, though not physically in the frontline any more, I am still mentally there. I will work hard to provide service assurance for the preparation for Olympic Games. As a gymnast, I know it clearly that I am not fighting alone and our motherland is always here to support us, and so are the 1.3 billion Chinese people. We are now on a final sprint to prepare for the coming Tokyo Summer Olympics. According to the qualification system for gymnastics at the Tokyo Olympic Games, we need to win points through a number of international events and domestic selection before determining the final candidates for the Olympics. Whether I will be able to participate in the Olympics or not, I will do my best in training to prepare for it high-spiritedly at my best state.
