Recently, China Classics International Office announced projects listed in the China Classics International 2022 project. The General History of Chinese Wushu(English Version), presented by Beijing Sport University Publishing House, was among the list.
Published by Beijing Sport University Publishing House in 2021, The General History of Chinese Wushu was funded by National Publication Foundation and included in the National Key Publishing Planning Project of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Based on historical facts, the five-volume series review the history of Chinese Wushu with a grand historical perspective and rigorous academic analysis. The book starts with “Zhai Zi Zhong Guo” (the earliest record of the name China), inscribed characters on a bronze ware from the Shang Dynasty and follows the history of Chinese Wushu to its boom, covering the entire history of Chinese Wushu development. Meanwhile, the series delve into the spirit and characteristics of Chinese civilization and culture demonstrated by Chinese Wushu and explore its value and significance in international cultural exchanges and communication. As the first series on the general history of a single sport, the book reveals a grand picture from past to present and presents a global vision. It not only represents the features of the new era, but also serves the national cultural strategy. It is a comprehensive and groundbreaking historical work.
China Classics International, a key project of the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China, aims to improve the quality of China’s international publications. Beijing Sport University Publishing House has already signed the funding agreement of the Chinese Classics International 2022. It also signed the copyright export contract with American Academic Press.
The General History of Chinese Wushu(English Version) will certainly play a positive role in promoting Chinese sportsmanship and Chinese Wushu in the world.
