In the morning of December 17, the launching & signing & unveiling ceremony of Hainan International Innovative Education Island guided by the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the people's government of Hainan Province and organized by the Education Department of Hainan Province and the people's government of Li Autonomous County of Lingshui was held in Li Autonomous County of Lingshui. Wang Lu, vice-governor of Hainan Province, and the responsible people from the relevant departments and offices of the Ministry of Education attended the ceremony. Xia Lunhao and Gao Feng, members of the standing committee of the Party Committee of BSU and vice-presidents of BSU, and the directors and representatives of University of Alberta in Canada, Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport in Poland, University of Lisbon in Portugal, Stockholm School of Economics and SL Benfica in Portugal, all of which planned to run a school in cooperation with our university, participated in this activity.

At the ceremony, Xia Lunhao and Gao Feng attended the launching ceremony for China-Foreign Cooperative Universities, the unveiling ceremony of Li’an International Innovative Education Trial Zone in Lingshui of Hainan and the news release conference of Hainan International Innovative Education Island on behalf of our university. In the presence of vice governor Wang Lu and the leaders of the relevant departments and offices of the Ministry of Education, Xia Lunhao, Cao Xiankun, director of the Education Department of Hainan Province, Fu Ming, secretary of the CPC Committee of Lingshui County, and Li Feng, head of Lingshui County, unveiled the preparation organization for the first 3 universities settling in Li’an International Innovative Education Trial Zone in Lingshui of Hainan including BSU. Vice-president Gao Feng signed contracts on behalf of our university with the Sports School of University of Alberta in Canada, Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport in Poland and SL Benfica in Portugal, and he received the interview of such news media as www.hinews.cn on the scene. The unveiling of Li’an International Innovative Education Trial Zone in Lingshui of Hainan and the preparation organization of our university for running schools in Hainan marked the formal start of Hainan International College of BSU in an all-round way.

In the afternoon of December 17, Gao Feng attended the Third Promotion Conference for the Support of the Ministry of Education for Deepening the Reform and Opening-up of Education in Hainan organized by the Ministry of Education. The conference was presided over by Liu Changya, director of the Development and Planning Department of the Ministry of Education; Wang Lu attended the conference and delivered a speech. 11 universities including BSU planning to run schools in Hainan and Hainan University participated in the conference. The universities participating in the conference reported their own progress in running schools in Hainan, the focus of the recent work and relevant suggestions respectively.

During the event, the leaders of our university and the directors and representatives from overseas universities and institutions like the Sports School of University of Alberta in Canada held in-depth talks on cooperation between both sides in running schools, and they went to Li’an International Innovative Education Trial Zone in Lingshui of Hainan for on-the-spot investigation, laying a foundation for signing cooperative agreement for running schools between our university and foreign universities.

The construction of Hainan International Innovative Education Island is a major strategy for the Ministry of Education and Hainan Province to deepen the reform and opening-up in education in an all-round way. As one in the first group of “double first-class" universities settling in Hainan International Innovative Education Island, our university signed the  Frame Agreement on Strategic Cooperation  with the people's government of Hainan Province in September 2019. We will make great efforts to turn Hainan International College of BSU into a base integrating production, teaching, research and usage for cultivating compounded sport medicine and physical therapy talents and leisure sports and tourism talents, a base for cultivating internationalized high-end competitive sports focusing on the three major balls and characteristic of aquatic sports, and a base for cultivating internationalized high-level coaches and referees through launching high-level cooperation between BSU and foreign universities around serving the three major strategies (a country strong on sports, education and health) and the strategic positioning of Hainan as “three zones and one center”.

The responsible people for Party Committee Office & President Office, Office of Teaching Affairs, Graduate School and Office for International Exchange and Cooperation of BSU as well as the staff members of the preparation group for Hainan International College of BSU participated in above-mentioned activities.
