BSU participates the grand parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China

On October 1, 2019, the conference to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China was held ceremoniously in the Tian'anmen Square. After the conference, 200,000 soldiers and ordinary people celebrated the birthday of our great motherland in the forms of the grand military parade and procession of masses.

The procession of masses, featuring the theme of “Building the Chinese Dream Together”, consisted of 70 groups of floats with a total number of about 100,000 ordinary people which formed 36 square-shaped formations and 3 scenarios. They marched through the core area of the Tian'anmen Square along Chang'an Street from east to west, expressing the emotions in a free, vivid, joyous and lively manner.

In the ceremony, the people from BSU received the review of our motherland.

Long Live Youth

The heavy traffic flow of bicycles on the bustling Chang'an Street is the memory of youth for the older generation. Young boys and girls shuttled back and forth while sounding the bells on their bicycles. It seemed the time travelled back. They started the first scenario formation with the theme of “Long Live Youth”. Each generation has its own song of youth. In the efforts to realize the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, Chinese youths are always the vanguard force.

The scenario formation with the theme of “Long Live Youth” consisted of 412 people including the undergraduate students, graduate students and doctoral students from 17 schools of BSU as well as 8 leading teachers. Today was the 100th day since it was set up formally on June 23. During the intensive training for more than three months, all the teachers and students bore the spirit of “Always Striving to Fulfill Our Mission” mentioned in the reply to all the graduate students of 2016 champion class by General Secretary Xi Jinping in mind all the time, and they overcame all difficulties by devoting themselves to the training.

The scenario formation with the theme of “Long Live Youth” participated in 9 times of field training in Jinzhan, 2 times of joint rehearsal in Liangxiang, one time of joint rehearsal in the parade village, 3 times of joint rehearsal in the Tian’anmen Square and one time of rehearsal in the Tian’anmen Square. The formation obtained the mobile red banner for “The Best Charm of Vigor” for two times.

Today, they presented the spirit and charm of the sports people and the contemporary university students in China to the whole country and whole world on behalf of BSU in front of Tian’anmen.

Red Lanterns

70 big red lanterns floated high above on the side roads of Tian'anmen Square, creating a joyous and auspicious atmosphere for the occasion. Behind all the operations of inflation, transportation, releasing, guarding and withdrawal were the dripping sweat of 401 volunteers from BSU.

In June, BSU received the task of releasing lanterns in Tian'anmen Square during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of new China in cooperation with XX Division of XX Institute of CASC. BSU chose volunteers from the Sports Coaching College, School of Strength and Conditioning, School of Leisure Sports and Tourism and China Wushu School. More than 95% of them are national level-1 or level-2 athletes and some of them are national champions in Wushu routine.

Releasing lanterns seemed quite simple, but it was complicated in actual operation. They would learn every step from the beginning. Those lanterns should be raised at a very early time. After that, the volunteers would sit on the small campstools starting a long period of guarding under the lanterns. So they were the last group to withdraw from the scene. Though they could not see the scenes happening on Chang'an Street, each volunteer took pride in being able to participate in the celebration.
