The delegation of our school participates in the 2nd International Forum on Integrated PE

During June 24 and 25, the 2nd International Forum on Integrated PE was held ceremoniously in the gymnasium of University of Worcester of the UK jointly by University of Worcester of the UK and BSU. Our school sent a delegation made up of 9 teachers to attend the forum.

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Mick Donovan, vice-president of University of Worcester and concurrently president of the Sports Science School. Sarah Greer, vice-president of University of Worcester and Wang Ronghui, dean of School of Sport Science of BSU delivered an address respectively. Wang Ronghui expressed gratitude for the sincere invitation of University of Worcester, reviewed the implementation of Integrated PE in China and the 1st International Forum on Integrated PE, and congratulated for the smooth operation of the double degree program of "1+2+1" and "3+1" for undergraduate students and "1+1+1" for graduate students being implemented at BSU and University of Worcester. He expressed the expectation for omni-directional and profound cooperation between the two schools in the future.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Lu Yan, deputy director of BSU Sports Research Center for the Disabled, made a speech titled The Development of Integrated PE at BSU, describing the efforts made by BSU in advancing the development of Integrated PE during the three periods of 2002 – 2010, 2010 – 2018 and 2019 until now, highlighting the projects under progress such as the development of online Integrated PE courses, opening the class of champions of Paralympic Games and cooperation with University of Worcester. She also made plan for pushing forward the in-depth international cooperation in sports.

At the roundtable discussion, University of Worcester of the UK, BSU and EdUHK conducted academic exchanges. The personnel participating in the meeting aired their own views around such topics as the training of disabled coaches, measurement of sports psychology of the disabled and the improvement of stereotyped act of children suffering from autism. In the afternoon, Liu Yujiang, chief of the Financial Section of BSU, and Rob Bonham, financial executive of University of Worcester, exchanged views on the management mode and experience of financial affairs of the university; Wang Ronghui, dean of the School of Sport Science, exchanged views with the students cultivated by the double degree program of the two schools to understand the study and life of those students in an all-round way; Yan Shiqi and Lian Bizhen, who are both teachers, made a speech respectively at the thematic seminar as representatives. 6 students from the class of 2017 in the School of Sport Science cultivated by the "1+2+1" program in the cooperation between BSU and University of Worcester worked as the interpreters for the whole course of the forum.

In the morning of June 25, the delegation of our school and the students at different ages and from different schools of University of Worcester participated in integrated sports together. They got to know the training mode and teaching method of blind football, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, etc. through personal experiencing. Wang Ronghui and Wan Xianglin, teachers from the School of Sport Science, and the teaching team of the Sports Science School of University of Worcester made full exchanges. Both sides introduced the teaching team, students, teaching and R&D of the schools on two sides as well as their own research fields and specialties; discussed the experiences in collaborated cultivation of students by both sides in nearly one year; and explored the prospect of launching projects jointly by the teachers of the two universities and collaborated cultivation of doctoral students. The teachers of University of Worcester made thoughtful arrangement and careful cultivation for the 13 undergraduate/graduate students selected and sent by the School of Sport Science of BSU for collaborated cultivation. These students studied diligently and their good morality and marvelous school performance left the teachers with an extremely deep impression; and they were highly recognized. The graduation theses of Xu Lai, who was the first one finishing the double degree study program of "3+1" for undergraduate students, was rated as A+, and he will receive the first-class degree for undergraduate students, which is rare among the international students of University of Worcester.

In the link of exchanging creative ideas in the afternoon, Zhou Zhihui, Zhang Xiaoying, Wan Xianglin and Li Ruitong, teachers from BSU, presented academic reports, explaining how the projects they are responsible for carried out integrated PE based on the specialties and development of courses.

During the theoretical study and practice in the two days, the members of the delegation of our school got to know the development of integrated PE and the fields and directions of academic research of University of Worcester on the scene. They had brand-new understanding of new thoughts and new ideas of the international forum on integrated PE, which will serve as an impetus to the development of integrated PE and promotion of the PE cause for the disabled in our country.
