In the afternoon on July 15, 2019, the United Front Office organized the Mobilization Meeting of Beijing Sport University Participating in the 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities. Fan Bao, deputy director at the Beijing Ethnic Affairs Commission, Han Shujin, director at the Division No.1 under Beijing Ethnic Affairs Commission, Yang Rui, an associate researcher, Wang Wei, director at the Beijing National Culture Exchange Center, Chang Jianzhong, deputy director, and Yang Wei, vice minister, Xia Lunhao, Standing Committee member of the Party Committee, vice president and director of the United Front Office of Beijing Sport University, and Li He, vice minister of the Standing Committee, attended the meeting, and all team leaders, coaches and athletes participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, Li He gave a comprehensive introduction to the basic situations of Beijing Sport University preparing for this National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities, including competition events, number of participants, organization and implementation, service guarantee, composition of members of the representative teams of each event and the status of preparation. Then, Wang Xiaona, coach in Chinese Traditional Wushu, and Li Fang, athlete in Dragon Dance delivered their speeches respectively on behalf of coaches and athletes. Adhering to the aim of the game “Equality, Unity, Struggle and Forging Ahead” and the motto of BSU “Pursuing Excellence”, they are determined to struggle for success and friendship in the competition through painstaking practice, and to win honor for BSU and Beijing City.
Vice President Xia Lunhao said that he, on behalf of BSU, expressed thanks to the Beijing Ethnic Affairs Commission for its trust and support in our national sports, and to all team leaders, coaches and athletes for their participation and preparations. Xia pointed out that the Party committee of BSU attached great importance to the work about national sports and participation in the National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities, and BSU would spare no effort in service guarantee. He also said that all coaches and athletes should, according to the requirements in the letter sent by General Secretary Xi Jinping to the postgraduate champion class, and carrying forward the spirit of “Always Striving to Fulfill Our Mission”, strive for breakthroughs in the competition and for national unity when preparing the games, thus living up to the trust of Beijing City and greeting the 70th anniversary of the National Day with outstanding successes.
Fan Bao expressed thanks to Beijing Sport University for its strong support in the national sports work of Beijing City and to all the participants for their efforts in preparations, and highly praised the good spiritual outlook of all the coaches and athletes. He said that BSU participated in six National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities and achieved outstanding results, making outstanding contributions to the development of Beijing’s national sports. He emphasized that the National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities are not only a stage to show the level of national sports, but also an important platform for demonstrating the spiritual outlook of the people of all ethnic groups in Beijing and the spirit of Beijing. Fan hoped that everyone would cherish this opportunity and do their best to prepare for the games, by raising their awareness, shouldering the mission and through scientific training, and would strive for good results. He also said that the Beijing Ethnic Affairs Commission would exert all its strength in service work in all respects, and provide all-round guarantee for the preparations.
The 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China will be held in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province from September 8 to September 16, 2019. Seventy-one teachers and students from 7 colleges of our university will undertake 6 competitive events including Cuqiu, board-shoe racing (Banxie Jingsu), stilt racing (Gaojiao Jingsu), elephant-tug-of-war (Yajia), martial arts and wrestling and 1 demonstration event, namely dragon dance as Beijing delegation. In addition, we undertake the task of the opening ceremony performance. Leaders from Beijing Ethnic Affairs Commission and Beijing Association for Traditional Sports of Nationalities speak highly of our preparations. We believe that with the joint efforts of our teachers and students, new breakthroughs will be made at the games and outstanding achievements will be made for Beijing delegation, thereby making contributions that we should make.
