Introduction to Sport Rehabilitation Department
The Sport Rehabilitation Department was founded in April, 2008 on the basis of China’s first ever pilot program for Sport Rehabilitation and Health in the Sport Science School and started recruiting in 2005.
The School has a strong faculty core which includes 19 full-time teachers, specifically, 7 professors, 7 associate professors, and 5 lecturers, among whom are 8 doctorial supervisors and 7 graduate supervisors. In addition, there are 11 part-time teachers of whom 9 have professor or chief physician titles and 2 have associate professor or associate chief physician titles teaching over 500 undergraduates and 80 master candidates.
The Rehabilitation Center and Therapy Center affiliated to the Sport Rehabilitation Department are equipped with international standard facilities for teaching and research in the area of sport rehabilitation and health, sport injury prevention and conditioning training. Additionally, practice bases, set up cooperatively within different medical units, research institutions and top-level sport teams, and provide students with various opportunities to improve both theoretical capability and practical competence. Teachers and students took part in scientific research and technical service for several Chinese national teams in the preparation for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2012 London Olympic Games.
Collaborations have been established with the University of North Carolina, Purdue University, Indiana University, the University of Ithaca, the University of Southern California and other foreign universities. This brings students the opportunity to participate in cultural exchanges, summer camps and sport therapy forums.
